More from Yellowstone

We conducted a participant survey while in Yellowstone. It turns out that 5 out 5 Ground Squirrels prefer Nacho Cheese Doritos over the leading brands. I had one come up and sniff my leg and begin to beg for a handout. But then the people who's truck was parked next to Jay's showed up and scared the little bugger off. Obviously they are nature haters, and against interspecies diplomacy. Damn hatemongers!
After a few days, you can see that Jay was clearly tired of me being around and proceeded to kick me off a canyon cliff. He told me it was nothing personal but he "likes the wife and kids much better."
You ever wonder how a 5 year old manages to have total energy after a long day of traveling about??? Well, my kid has learned to flash his grill and take full advantage of his aunt and uncle (although in this one its me actually toting the little scheister around) and get them to give him rides everywhere we have to go on foot. At least as long as there isn't rocks to be climbed, or animal poop to be thrown.

And here we have Nomi and Jay standing outside enjoying the scenery I'm sure they take for granted now. Of course Jay has his morning coffee, otherwise he would have been the first bear I would have had to poke. And I would've been kicked off the cliff a lot quicker.

Taking it for granted... umm a little. As I was driving the switchbacks yesterday on the beartooth pass I found myself wishing for a straight road where I could gas it a little more. But after looking around I decided that maybe it wasn't too bad afterall. We should have made that drive. It is incredible.

I'm ready for another run on the 4 wheelers.....you need to talk to Mojo and see if he'll give up the doggles for awhile!

I think he's a little upset with you. Something about stretching them out. But I couldn't tell. It was either that, or Timmy is stuck in the well again.

Jay-
You'd better hope its about Timmy being in the well. Because if they got stretched out..remember it was your big head that those doggles were on for most of the time. the very short period of time I had them on before you complained of not being able to see wouldn't have sufficiently done the job of stretching them. you aren't spreading rumors about who's responsible for all this are you, Mr Frank???

Wow! What great fun. I wish I could have been there.

RG-

I'm sure you would have thoroughly enjoyed yourself. Jay and I used to go out into "the wilderness" all the time and always have plenty of energy. Nowadays, it seems that keeping in shape might have been a good idea for walking up hills with a 40 lb child on our shoulders!

Sounds like you're making the most of your summer! Mine is without vacation, just spending thousands on a drainage system (with us doing the labor) and a new clearing in the back woods. I'll like the result, but I am missing the summer...so I appreciate the ability to vacation vicariously through your blog!

Scott-

Yeah I decided to make the most of this summer. I've given up most holidays and all my summers to work over the past few years, it was time to take some time off for family and myself. I expect pictures of your yard after the fruits of your labors and money are realized.

Yup, I'll have to snap some photos tomorrow of the driveway -- despite all the work we've done, we got 60 cubic yards of sand, 60 cubic yards of loam, 30 cubic yards of crushed stone (since all the past sand has buried our gravel driveway and we need to redo it). The kids were in heaven! Climbing mountains of sand and dirt, ultimately with their mud boots, socks and shirts off...I had to carry them from the door to the bath.
